Sandwich panel construction

This guide provides a comprehensive overview of sandwich panel construction, emphasizing the importance of a dry environment throughout the process.

Pre-Installation Essentials :

  1. Cleanliness is Key:  Prior to installation, thoroughly clean the air ducts and work area within the designated purification zone. Remove any unnecessary materials that could hinder construction.

  2. Detailed Secondary Design: The contractor shall develop specific secondary design plans based on the provided drawings. This includes layouts and plans for roofing and wall panels, along with relevant node details. Both parties must confirm the final specifications before ordering materials.

  3. Protective Measures:  Insulated panels require careful handling to prevent surface damage during transportation. This includes applying protective film, proper packaging, and civilized loading/unloading practices. Store color-coated panels and accessories in a dry, clean, flat, and stable location. Consider building an enclosure for better management. Stack panels uniformly, with a maximum height of 2 meters.

  4. Inspection and Verification:  Upon arrival at the site, the contractor shall provide product and relevant certificates for the pre-painted sandwich panels. Inspect the panels for scratches and ensure their geometric dimensions comply with the design drawings. Any scratches require proper treatment after removing the protective film.

  5. Maintaining Material Integrity:  During sandwich panel installation, avoid removing the plastic protective film from the wall panels. Do not hit or step on the panels.  Furthermore, strictly check the specifications,  performance, and intactness of all accessories and materials.  Discard any unqualified or damaged components.

  6. Gap Sealing:  Utilize silica gel to seal all installation gaps within the clean area. Before application, meticulously clean the gaps to remove impurities and oil stains. Ensure a dense, consistent seal to prevent material detachment and dust accumulation. The finished silica gel surface should be smooth and wrinkle-free.

  7. Daily Cleanliness:  Maintain a clean work environment throughout the construction process. This includes cleaning materials and the construction site after each workday.

Sandwich Panel Installation:

Important Note:  Proceed with insulated panel installation only after completing the building's basic decoration works and the main ventilation, power, and process control systems. Regularly clean machinery, installation accessories, and the work area throughout the process. The recommended installation sequence is wall panels followed by the ceiling panels.

  • Wall Panel Installation:

  1. Precise Layout:  Meticulously follow the designated layout plan for the insulated panel partitions. Ensure the flow of people and logistics aligns with a consistent equal-length pattern, maintaining an error margin of less than 1.5‰. Wall corners must be vertically connected, and the room layout's diagonal error should not exceed 1‰.

  2. Ground Preparation:  Clean the ground according to the layout markers, ensuring no dust particles are present on either side of the aluminum alloy manger. Secure the manger to the ground using shooting nails at 0.5-meter intervals. Ensure a tight connection between the manger and the ground.

  3. Maintaining Perpendicularity:  Utilize a magnetic force line to verify the perpendicularity of the insulated wall panel installation. The deviation should not exceed 1‰.  Strictly control the gap between wall panels within 2.5 mm to prevent tilting or twisting caused by accumulated errors. Maintain consistent gaps throughout the installation, both vertically and horizontally.

  4. Corner and Sealing Techniques:  Perform cleaning procedures before installing the internal arc aluminum at the connection angle between the wall and roofing panels. Seal the formed angle with building sealant. Secure the internal angle plastic base and the wall top plate with aluminum rivets. The installed aluminum profile should adhere closely to the insulated panel surface, free of any wavy gaps.

  5. Electrical Considerations:  Electricians and sandwich panel installation workers must collaborate to confirm the opening size and location for switch sockets. The installation worker is responsible for creating the openings.

  • Ceiling Panel Installation:

  1. Support Structure and Layout:  Based on the secondary design layout, determine the connection and fixation points for the three-dimensional components that will support the girder, reinforce lifting points, and connect to the roof beam. Details include:

  • Hanging bars spaced every 1.2 meters in a vertical and horizontal layout.

  • Roof beam secured with φ 10 mm inner wire expansion screws.

  • The other end of the suspender connected with a galvanized turnbuckle and a special galvanized concealed crane beam for roof flatness adjustment.

  1. Panel Installation and Connection:   Install the ceiling insulated panels according to the room layout, maintaining a gap of 2-3 mm between panels. Secure the top surface to the concealed crane girder with rivets every 0.5 meters to ensure a firm connection.

  2. Long Panel Reinforcement:  For roof panels exceeding 3 meters in length, additional reinforcement is necessary in the longitudinal direction, alongside the standard width-direction support with the concealed girder. Utilize a special C-shaped steel reinforced girder to connect with the roof keel using dovetail screws. Then, employ through-wire suspenders for lifting the panel into place.

  3. Ceiling Board Protection:  Upon completion of the ceiling board construction, implement protective measures to safeguard it from subsequent construction activities. Strictly prohibit large-scale processing or manufacturing tasks directly on the ceiling board.

Additional Notes:

  • This guide serves as a general overview, and specific installation procedures may vary depending on the project requirements and the chosen insulated panel system. It's crucial to consult the manufacturer's recommendations and relevant building codes for detailed instructions.

  • Always prioritize safety throughout the construction process. Workers should wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to established safety protocols.

By following these guidelines and maintaining a meticulous focus on cleanliness throughout the process, you can ensure a successful and high-quality insulated sandwich panel construction project.
